Motivation :
Optomechatronic Technology that integrates optics with mechatronics is becoming a major technological trend. This can be easily observed in recent years from a great number of devices, products, machines and systems. The compelling reason of this trend is that the integration called “Optomechatronic Technology” can bring about synergistic effects such as improvement of system performance, generation of new functionalities, and creation of new systems, etc. The integration of the two fields, optics and mechatronics, requires not only innovative thinking and ideas but also profound knowledge of the physical phenomena associated with the fusion of the two technical areas.

Objective :
The objective of this award is therefore to encourage researchers to develop optomechatronic integration methodologies in a creative way and thereby, the methodologies can permit realization of the optomechatronic design approach into new practice, so as to achieve systems producing new functionalities or performance improvement for devices, products and systems. This award will be conferred annually based upon the evaluation of an Award Committee.
